Cons. Res.
2010–2011
Conservation Reserve “Cons. Res.” refers to library books that are so badly damaged that they are considered beyond repair. Made with the collaboration of the Bodleain Library, The Canterbury Cathedral Archive and the Lambeth Palace Library this project looks at the wide-ranging reasons why books are destroyed: the desire of conquerors to eradicate their predecessors or foreign cultures, war, religious intolerance, fire and other natural or man-made disasters.
